Onyx Construction Group is led by a husband-and-wife team who built the company on faith, family, and a love for creating lasting results. With decades of hands-on experience in roofing and construction, they combine practical expertise with a personal touch, making sure every project is done right. Proud parents of three, they treat their clients and team like family, bringing care, integrity, and dedication to everything they do.

Jacob “Jake” Shaw
Director of Construction
Jake currently resides in Van Alstyne, TX with his wife and two children. He is a proud veteran, serving 8 years in the U.S. Army. Jake transitioned from his military service into a 10+ year career in the construction industry. There he served in many leadership roles on both residential and commercial projects. His attention to detail and ability to lead and connect with others will serve our company well in his new role as Director of Construction. When he’s not working you can catch him hitting the trails on his mountain bike, enjoying mini-golf with the family, skateboarding with his son, or various other outdoor

Ryder Skinner
Field Supervisor
Ryder has been involved with OCG since we opened our doors. He is a full-time field supervisor and continues to pursue his college studies online. Ryder enjoys spending time outdoors hunting and fishing with friends and family. He also has a passion for music and loves attending concerts and listening to live music in his free time.

Trent Parham
Account Manager
Trent brings more than a decade of hands-on experience in the construction industry, with a strong background in both residential and multifamily projects. Based in Van Alstyne, he also brings valuable expertise in customer service and small business ownership-providing him with a well-rounded perspective on project management, client relations, and operational efficiency. Outside of work, Trent enjoys spending time outdoors- camping, kayaking, and fishing, often with his loyal dog by his side. His ambition, drive, and commitment to excellence make him a great addition to our sales team. We’re excited to have him on board and look forward to all he will accomplish with Onyx.

Jose Mendez
Account Manager
Jose will be our new Account Manager and responsible for the oversight and execution of our ongoing projects. Jose brings over 25 years of construction knowledge serving the multifamily, commercial and residential sectors. He honed his skills early on as a skilled carpenter and rose through the ranks of construction management. His experience working with a wide range of customers on many diverse construction projects will compliment our dedicated team to serving our valued customer base. He is a father to two daughters and son, and loves spending as much time with them as possible.

Elizabeth Skinner
Administrative Assistant
Elizabeth is a proud Anna native and graduate of Anna High School, also holds a degree from Wayland Baptist University. After exploring life’s adventures, she returned to the area to be closer to family. Following her retirement from the City of Melissa, she quickly discovered that retirement wasn’t for her and reentered the workforce. In her spare time, she cherishes moments with her family. She is a loving mom to her daughter, Emily, and son-in-law, Mark, and a devoted Gigi to her grandchildren, Kendall, Jesse, and Jentry, as well as her grandson-in-law, Andrew.
